NEW EVENT FOCUSES ON WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP IN PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS
April 6, 2009, Orlando, Fla. - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International will sponsor the first Women in Public Safety Communications Leadership Symposium in Orlando, Fla. May 7-8.
“Recognizing that women face unique challenges in the public safety communications industry, APCO International is launching the new event with the goal that it will be a place where women can find education geared specifically to their concerns annually,” APCO International President Chris Fischer said.
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Staying in Touch” and will cover a range of subjects from leadership to work-life balance. Speakers will include veterans in public safety communications, such as Dorothy Moses Schulz, PhD, professor at John Jay College, as well as career development and leadership experts from outside of the field.
