Norton (MA) Public Safety Dispatch Implements APCO EMD
October 10, 2007, Norton, MA - Last month, Norton (MA) Public Safety Dispatch implemented the APCO Institute Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Program.
Norton Public Safety Dispatch serves the Town of Norton, Massachusetts, a municipality of approximately 20,000 residents by dispatching police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS), and acting as an after-hours contact for all other municipal agencies/departments, with an annual call volume of approximately 14,000 calls.
"We're very excited to implement APCO EMD so that we can provide a higher level of service to the residents of our community," said Michael X. Wynn, lead dispatcher.
The APCO Institute EMD Program, based on EMD Guidecards and software, is a systematic way to manage EMS resources in an organized and effective manner and to provide medical assistance to callers, when needed, until medically trained field response units arrive at the scene.
"The APCO Institute welcomes Norton Public Safety Dispatch as an EMD User Agency and looks forward to working with their staff to provide EMD services to their area," APCO Institute Director Julie Troutman said.
