Join APCO and your professional life is bound to improve. You'll be adding an entire portfolio of resources to help make your every day job more rewarding and efficient.

You'll have opportunities to improve through professional development and education, networking, recognition, and more.

Professional Development and Education
Annual Conference & Exposition - Attend this event every August with more than 6,000 of your peers to hone your skills, hear new ideas, test hot technologies and meet your colleagues.

Committees - Join one or more of the committees dedicated to an issue you're concerned about.

Public Safety Communications/APCO eBulletin - Our monthly journal is filled with information we all need to know about our industry. And, for late-breaking developments, our weekly eBulletin ensures you get accurate information as soon as it is available. We'll keep you current on everything from legislative and regulatory updates to training courses and upcoming events.

APCO Institute - A not-for-profit division of APCO, this organization provides customized education and training programs, technical and operations publications, and information services. APCO International members enjoy substantial discounts.

AFC Licensing - Another not-for-profit division, APCO AFC, Inc, is FCC-certified to offer frequency coordination services for police and local government users below 800MHz, and public safety users above that frequency. For our members, licensing services are offered at a discount.

Special Projects - APCO has a reputation as the leader in developing standards and guidelines in the public safety communications field. As needs arise, projects are often established to work within the industry to find solutions. One of our first projects led to the development of the familiar 10-codes in 1940. You'll have access to the current projects and their progress as well as past projects.

Research - APCO staff is dedicated to conducting research regarding operational issues. Our staff also responds to member requests as they identify areas in need of technical, training or management guidelines.

Legislative and Regulatory Representation - As an APCO member, you have a chance to voice your concerns, and be assured they are heard in the public sector.

Job Bank & Recruiter Resources - Employers and recruiters in the public safety industry come to APCO to find qualified personnel. Members have access to online job postings, and opportunities are also advertised in our monthly newsletter.

Networking
With the above list of conferences, committees and projects in which you can become involved, APCO membership offers a range of networking opportunities. And, be sure to stay involved at the chapter level, too.

Chapter Meetings - By joining APCO, you're automatically a member of your local chapter as well. APCO chapters are very active, often hosting local meetings, regional conferences and training sessions. And, it's these chapters that can address any specific local issues affecting your job. Your local chapter provides invaluable resources and networking opportunities.

APCO Calendar - From chapter and regional meetings and events, to APCO Institute happenings, to our annual conference, this is the place to see what's going on inside APCO from around the world.

Achieve recognition, or recognize a colleague
Awards/Recognition Programs - Recognizing the critical nature of jobs performed by public safety communications professionals, APCO awards its members for outstanding job performance. You can nominate a colleague, or maybe someone will recognize your hard work!

Scholarships - APCO supports its members through different scholarship opportunities to make it possible for them to attend conferences, take Institute classes, or even the Virtual College. Members can nominate others, or request assistance for themselves.

The APCO "Walk of Heroes" - This is no ordinary walkway. It is made up of custom-engraved bricks that pay tribute to individuals, groups, events and companies that have special places in the heart of the APCO community. This landmark is located on the APCO Headquarters property in Daytona Beach and leads to a beautiful waterside gazebo. And you are invited to be a part of it.

National Public Safety Telecommunications Week - This week, celebrated annually, honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the citizens of the United States. Find out how APCO is involved in this special recognition and celebration.
