Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 (PST1) Instructor

This course combines enhanced instructional techniques training with specific training on how to conduct the PST1, 6th Edition student course. Successful completion of this course enables your agency instructors to instruct the PST1, 6th Edition student course in-house or regionally, allowing for significant reduction in your new-hire and in-service training and travel costs.

PST1, 6th Edition meets and exceeds the APCO Project 33 Revised Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Telecommunicators (2004). APCO Project 33 training standards are widely recognized as the national industry standard for basic telecommunicator training.

All instructor course participants successfully passing the final exam receive valuable APCO Institute certification demonstrating the ability to instruct a basic training course that meets and exceeds industry accepted national training standards.

Instructional media and exercises used throughout the course reinforce the knowledge attained in lecture and demonstration. In addition, each participant receives a comprehensive PST1, 6th Edition Instructor Guide Package as part of the course tuition. The Instructor Guide Package includes instructional techniques for trainers, lesson plans, the student text, a student course PowerPoint presentation, recordings of actual emergency calls for service, games and puzzles, drill and practice exercises, role-play exercises and training tips and guidelines.

Prerequisites:
Successful completion of Public Safety Telecommunicator 1, 6th Edition student course.

Recertification Requirements:
APCO Institute certified agency instructors are required to recertify every two years. Complete information on the recertification process is provided at the conclusion of the PST1, 6th Edition Instructor course.
