P33 Certification Agency Procedural Guidelines.
Certification of Training Programs as meeting the APCO International Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Telecommunicators.
TALKING POINTS
Public safety
communication services are offered on a daily basis in a dynamic
environment of ever changing political, technological and social
expectation.
The APCO Call
Center Standards/Training Committee is charged with continued
monitoring of the existing training requirements. In addition,
the Committee makes proposed revisions as necessary in order to
offer every community with current, best practices for call
taking and dispatch training.
- The Committee is now
focusing efforts on establishing a minimum training standard
for Communications Training Officers (CTO). Following the same course as
with the First Line Supervisor Training Standard development,
the committee will gather current training standards and
curricula from across the nation to determine a “baseline”
standard. A draft standard is being written and will be circulated to
members for comment during December 2006.
- Following completion of the Communications Training Officers (CTO) Standards the Committee will focus its efforts in the same manner on development of minimum training standards for the Communications Manager/Director position.
- The Committee is
supporting APCO Intl. as it moves forwaqrd with establishment of a formal
“process” by which all standards
will be evaluated and formatted consistently before
distribution.
